Internship Program - FAQ's

  1. What type of Company is 3fifteen?
    3fifteen is a Microsoft application development business. We build, deploy and maintain enterprise-level customised applications for our customers using Microsoft technology. We are a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner. 3fifteen has offices in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

  2. What does the internship entail and how long is it?
    The internship will run for a fixed term period of 12 months. We are aiming to start in January 2009. There will be a group of approximately 15 graduates commencing the program with us. The program will consist of a combination of formal and on-the-job training. It will require certain Microsoft certifications to be completed. Each Intern will have a mentor. The Interns will have quarterly performance reviews and will receive consistent feedback regarding their performance. Although permanent employment is not guaranteed as offers of permanent employment will be performance based the goal of the internship is to create permanent employment opportunities within our organization. Should the internship result in an offer of permanent employment we would require a minimum commitment equal to the same length as the internship i.e. 12 months.

  3. Does the internship pay a salary?
    There will be a monthly salary paid to the Interns; this will be discussed with you during the recruitment process.

  4. Will there be employee benefits?
    During the period of the internship the Intern will not be required to participate in the Company benefit schemes. If the internship should result in permanent employment then the employee would participate in the medical and provident fund schemes.  For permanent employees 3fifteen also has a quarterly incentive scheme which is performance based.

  5. Does the Company offer training?
    Part of 3fifteen’s culture is a major focus on growth and learning. 3fifteen definitely provides training for their employees.  The internship program is a program which focuses predominantly on training. Training which is offered is a combination of formal and informal means. We encourage and incentivize our staff to attend Microsoft events and to write Microsoft exams. We reimburse staff members for passing Microsoft exams. Other training is also available, both in-house and through external training providers; this training needs to be job relevant and of value to both the employee and the company. We generally run internal training sessions every second week within the organization. The internship has a specific training program which will be followed.

  6. What are the working hours?
    Working hours are 8am to 5pm with one hour for lunch. We require a minimum of a 40 hour working week. There is some flexibility with regard to working hours; this can be arranged with your Line Manager.

  7. Is there a particular dress code?
    The dress code is casual whilst being neat and tidy. You are not required to dress in corporate clothing.

  8. Is there room for growth within the organisation?
    Definitely, the goal of the internship is to create permanent employment. Once employed permanently there is a clear growth path from junior to architect level in development. We also have divisions within the business each with a specific focus and we encourage our staff members to grow and learn across all areas thus enabling them to gain broader competencies and skills. 

  9. What is the Company culture and atmosphere?
    3fifteen is a company that is dynamic, enthusiastic and vibrant. The environment is comfortable with a positive atmosphere. The focus is on working SMART and being productive during working hours but maintaining work-life balance. The company structure is relatively flat and there is an open door policy with all staff members up to the CEO being very approachable. The offices are open plan to encourage teamwork and collaboration. 3fifteen has a competency based culture where we reward and recognise staff for their contributions and the value they add to the organisation. We encourage our staff to give their input and to ask questions. We have a number of means of gathering feedback from our staff in order to implement positive changes within the organization. 

  10. Do I get any leave during the internship?
    You will be entitled to leave during the internship. You will be eligible for 18 working days of annual leave during the 12 month fixed term period. This must be taken at a time that is convenient to yourself as well as the company. Study leave will be provided for the purpose of completing training and exams as specified as part of the internship program. All other leave will work in accordance with labour regulations.
